Game Jam Aotearoa 2023
Game Jam Aotearoa 2023 is a nation-wide, virtual, collaborative event to inspire and grow innovation, experimentation, and collaboration in games.
Beginning on Friday evening at 6pm, with video keynotes and advice from leaders in the game development industry, the fun really starts with the announcement of this year's theme at 7pm, kept secret until the last second!
These events are awesome for fostering friendships, increasing confidence, and creating opportunities within the game dev communities. You get to challenge yourself and your creativity, while you explore new roles, and develop and refine your skills.
Please note: This is primarily a virtual event that encourages collaboration across the country, however teams can meet up to collaborate in person if they choose to.
In addition to the fun of making a game, we also have prizes to give away!
In order to be eligible for the prizes you must be currently residing in New Zealand and be 18 years or older.

Everyone knows no mere human can defeat a demon, but a human with a time gun is a different story. Use the young and old bullets to turn those demons into newborns or old men to get them!

You're just a silly baby penguin on an iceberg, having great penguin times with all your bigger penguin friends. But... there's not enough room on this ice cube for all of you, and it's starting to break apart.
You're younger, quicker... and have so much more to live for than all those fishy old farts. Survive, and shove them off the edge so you can grow up.

Play as a Time Travelling thrift store owner and sell historical loot to pay off your debt.
Your stock is limited, but that is no obstacle as you can make massive profits just by reorganizing stock to fit the needs of 3 eras. Want to sell a brand new vase from ancient egypt to someone in the 1800's, or offer a Victorian era camera to a knight in the middle ages? Anything is possible with time travel!
No need to worry about paradoxes and the butterfly effect, your shop exists outside of causality, along with some strange radio device that seems to work no matter where/when you are.

I got the game finally... It's the one I was talking to you about on the bus. The first person, first ever, sci-fi/fantasy, MMO-RPG-RTS-FPS!!! It's like the Mandalorian, but also like Lord of the Rings. There are dragons, and spaceships, and imps. There's this guy called Jordax enslaving the planet and we need to kick his ass. I already build my own boat that carries four (sorry Sami, you're swimming). When you get in the game, make your way to Da Bog, it's the main town and we'll meet up and I'll hook you up with some gear so you don't suck right away.
It's so hype. Just download it already and msg me. I'm playing it now!
